Providing air evacuation, rescue, and medical transport services for rural Vancouver Island and the mainland coast.

The rural communities of Vancouver Island and the adjacent islands and mainland coast are not presently well served with regard to air evacuation, air rescue, and medical transportation.  Homalco First Nation and Wildcat Helicopters propose to establish Homalco Air Rescue in answer to these needs.  Homalco Air Rescue will provide evacuation, rescue, and air transport services.  Proposed is the permanent deployment of an air rescue and ambulance Bell 412EP helicopter at Homalco First Nation near Campbell River.  Services would be offered up to 365 days a year on a 24/7 standby ready basis.  This service would make available the most experienced primary and advanced care paramedics in the province, ready to go at a moment’s notice.

Testimonial: The need for improved air ambulance services in Kyuquot

“I am all for Homalco Air Rescue for being a medical response team for rural communities. That would be very helpful because they have 11-person seating capacity, and they can take 2 patients at a time, and they have night vision search and rescue gear. I’m all for Homalco Air Rescue. Thank you.”
